The federal government will pay the full cost of supporting families with SNAP. SNAP will then split the benefits and allocate them to anyone who applies and is eligible to access the benefits. You can use your card to purchase approved groceries.

What can you buy with EBT cards?

You can buy the following groceries with your EBT card:

  • Fresh products:fruits and vegetables that have not been processed. For example,broccoli,apples, tomatoes, peppers, blueberries, carrots, asparagus and others.
  • Meat and fish:Meats such as pork, beef, lamb and chicken. Fish like tuna and mackerel.

What cannot be purchased with EBT cards?

The following are ineligible groceries that cannot be paid for with an EBT card at Walgreens:

3 things you should know before buying with an EBT card

1. You can't buy everything with EBT card

As we mentioned above, most retail giants like Amazon and Walmart accept EBT. HoweverUnited States Department of Agriculture(USDA) prohibits the use of EBT cards to pay for delivery and other service fees. So even if a store says it accepts EBT for curbside and home delivery options, you won't be able to pay for them.

This means you can pay for SNAP-eligible groceries on the site's checkout page. You will then need to add another card or payment method. This new card will cover the additional cost of your order. 2. You can make returns using an EBT card

According toUSDA, all SNAP cardholders should be treated like regular customers, especially when it comes to refunds.

You may return or return an item purchased with an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) if permitted by store policy.

1. Amazon

Amazon accepts SNAP EBT cards in all US states except Alaska. However, the store is currently working hard to expand its reach in the country. You don't need an Amazon Prime membership to use the EBT card, although you do need to have a personal Amazon website account. Amazon Business accounts will not work with EBT payments.

You can also use your EBT card to buy Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market products on Amazon.com, as Amazon owns both stores. Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh also accept in-store EBT payments.

While you don't need an Amazon account to shop at Whole Foods Market with your EBT card, you will need one if you intend to use Amazon Fresh's Just Walk Out checkout technology. Creating an Amazon account allows you to scan products and add them to the virtual cart for payment without having to unload the physical cart at checkout.

Amazon also accepts EBT cards for cashback as long as you provide a receipt for the products. The same policy also applies to Whole Foods Market stores.

2. Wal-Mart

For online ordering, you must have a Walmart account as there is no option to place an order as a guest.
