| |
5. Drill and install the wall plate
If you need to replace your current doorbell, you can mount the Nest Doorbell in the location of your old doorbell button. However, you may need to drill a new hole or remove the current doorbell wires and drill the existing hole so the power adapter wire can be routed through the wall.
If you don't have a doorbell, install it about 4 feet (1.2 m) high, where most doorbells are.
|
6. Route the power cord through the wall.
- Enter your home and slide the wall grommet over the adapter cord.
- Pass the cable through the hole and out.
Important: Do not connect the adapter yet. You can damage it if the ends of the wires touch each other. Keep it unplugged until the installation is complete.
7. Connect the adapter wires to your doorbell
It doesn't matter which terminal you connect a wire to. Make sure the screws are tight and the wires are pointing down as shown. This is so that the excess wire can be wound back into the wall, allowing the doorbell to connect properly to the wall plate. |
8. Arm your doorbell
If it does not fit correctly or click, make sure you have rethreaded all the excess wire back into the hole. Advice:If you need to remove the Nest Doorbell, push the included release tool into the hole on the bottom to unlock it. You can also use a thumbtack or paper clip. |
9. Turn on the power and connect the adapter
- Scroll through the app until it asks you to turn it back on.
- Turn on the power at your circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Plug the power adapter into the indoor wall outlet.
- Observation: You can use an extension to achieve this if necessary. If you have excess cable, you can feed it back through the hole in the wall or use a cable tie to wrap it around.
10.Check the power of the hood
Once connected, the Nest Doorbell should turn on and the light ring should turn blue.
Troubleshooting
If the ring light does not turn on, verify that the adapter is plugged into a live electrical outlet. Then unplug the adapter and plug it back in. Also, make sure the wires are properly connected to the back of the doorbell and the screws are tight.
11.Finish the setup with the app
1. Connect to Wi-Fi
Tell the app where you installed your doorbell. Then select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
Solve problems
- If the doorbell doesn't connect to your Wi-Fi network, try moving your router a bit closer or adding a Wi-Fi extender.
- If you already have a Nest product installed in your home, your doorbell should try to get your Wi-Fi information from it. Try moving closer to the doorbell if possible, or temporarily uninstall the doorbell and plug it closer to the assistant product while it tries to connect to Wi-Fi again.
2. Test the video stream
Once the doorbell is connected to WiFi and the app, the app should test the video.
3. Turn off the buzzer and test
Before testing the doorbell, turn off the doorbell option in the app, even if you don't have a wired doorbell installed.
- To exit settings, tapMade.
- Touch the bell on the home screen of the application. Then tap Settings
.
- Disable 'internal ring'.
- Press the doorbell button to check if it works. You should also get a notification from the app that someone is at your door.
